RPG Metrics Agent for IBM i and PC local scanning

Run RPG Metrics analysis locally on IBM i/PASE or Windows without uploading your RPG source code.

  • IBM i IFS and Windows local-folder scanning
  • Local XLSX analysis reports
  • Optional upload of calculated metrics to the RPG Metrics dashboard

Scan RPG source locally. Keep your source on your systems.

The RPG Metrics Agent is a Python-based package that analyses RPG source locally and creates XLSX code-quality reports on IBM i or Windows.

Local-first by design

RPG source code is analysed in the environment where the agent is running. Source code is not uploaded to the RPG Metrics dashboard. When dashboard synchronisation is enabled, only calculated metrics are sent.

IBM i / PASE

Scan directly on IBM i

Watch an IFS folder for RPG source stream files created through CPYTOSTMF, PDM options, change-control commands or local scripts.

WINDOWS / LOCAL FOLDER

Scan exported RPG source

Watch a Windows folder containing RPG source files that have already been exported or copied from IBM i.

LOCAL REPORTING

What the agent provides

  • Local XLSX code-quality reports
  • Cyclomatic Complexity
  • Maintainability Index
  • Comment percentages and line counts
  • Local-only operation without an agent token
  • Optional synchronisation of calculated metrics

Local scanning and local XLSX reporting are available without dashboard synchronisation. Hotspots, Nesting Analysis, RPG Free compatibility, history and team features depend on the enabled RPG Metrics subscription.
